Prof. Mart Loog along with 22 scientists from 3 major Universities of Estonia published the open letter in „Maaleht“ journal. The letter emphasised the wood industry potential in reaching environmental sustainability, ecological benefits and social aspect of industry in Estonia.
Three main ideas:
- Estonia needs more developed R&D sector for valorisation of wood derived products and minimising the carbon emmissions’ negative effect on climate.
- Estonia needs to prioritise high value wood derived product on the state level.
- State needs to take into account social and economical aspects of wood industry in Estonia, as this sector is one of the main job providers in Estonia.
