Tartu University announced the construction of a new educational and research building on the vacant land adjacent to the Institute of Physics. The new building will accommodate newly established Institute of Bioengineering along with the Institutes of y, Molecular and Cell Biology, and Pharmacy.
The University of Tartu has opened an architectural competition for a new educational and research building. The new facility will be used by students from all four institutes. Professor Mart Loog emphasised the urgency of planning the new building, as current space constraints make it hard to hire young researchers. Mart Loog also highlighted the benefits of having all institutes under one roof, facilitating knowledge sharing and synergy among researchers. The new building will be one of the largest projects for the university in recent years. The architecture competition is open until mid-October.
